Our story
David Hoey, Chief Author
Authorly is piloted by David Hoey, a practising executive, trained journalist, and wielder of the written word. David brings 22 years of experience in business and management roles, with a particular specialisation in the Australian education and employment sectors.
David studied Journalism at the University of Queensland and completed a second degree majoring in Political Science with a view to pursuing a career as a political journalist. After stints in the Network 10 newsroom and the Channel 7 publicity engine, it was writing that revealed itself as David’s true passion.
A career in marketing followed working with non-profit, publicly listed, and private equity backed businesses in executive marketing, sales, and operational roles. David honed his business writing skills through campaign execution, producing pitch decks to institutional investors…and always finding a way to create a platform for his journalistic instinct including the development of magazine mastheads Wellspring and HQ Magazine.
David became a Chief Executive Officer in his late thirties taking a start-up education business from concept to operational roll-out, and in that process, became deeply knowledgeable about vocational assessment and competency.
Today David uses his clutch of business, marketing, and educational skills to produce compelling writing and content for others.
